How to create a concept building

With the release of the new "import Current Building" functionality, you can additionally create a "concept buildings". Concept buildings are buildings that you are able to configure and use to "program" with Space Programs, for example to Stack&Block.

In order to create a concept building you will need 2 things:

  1. An overview of the floors and zoning needed for the building.
  2. An overview of the surface area per floor and preferably also per zoning.

This article will take you through the steps to create a programmable building and help you navigate through the main screens within this process.

  1. Open SpacePro
  2. Navigate to the "Buildings" menu item in the main menu
  3. Click the "New concept building" to start the configuration

New Building screen

  1. Enter the name for your building and optionally add a description.
  2. Select the Client that the Building belongs to.
  3. Select the folder that you would like to save the building in.
  4. Select the measurement unit you would like to use to configure your building with.
  5. Indicate the highest floor number.
  6. Indicate the lowest floor number.
  7. Indicate the maximum number of zones you have on a floor. Make sure to take the highest numbers of zones that exist on a floor in you building. You will be able to consolidate zones within a floor when indicating the surface area per floor.
  8. Enter the surface area per floor, per zone. You could decide to make one floor without a surface or a surface 0, but you could also leave it out of the floors.

It is also possible to define up to 10 zones for each floor. This is useful when a stack of floors consists of example of a North and South tower. If the floors are very big and have atria that you would like to use in the Stacking & Blocking. If a building has zones defined you can choose to either enter a total for the floor (ignoring the zones for that floor) or by Zone, in which case the floor surface is the total of the zones.

  9. Confirm by hitting the "Save" button

When you have defined and configured your concept building, it's floors and the zoning correctly, you can hit the "Save" button at the bottom of the page to confirm. You have now created a concept building that you can use for either Stacking&Blocking or in Comparison mode when using the "Import current building" functionality.

Creating a concept building after importing a current building

After you have imported a current building you also have the option to create a programmable building out of the imported building. In order to do so, click the 'ellipse' button (three dots) on the right side of the current building, and click on "Make concept building". The software will use the configuration data from the import module to create the building. You can either adjust configurations of you can just confirm by hitting the 'Save' button.
