Concept buildings

To allocate spaces to part of a building in the "Stacking & Blocking" functionality, we must be able to define a concept building in SpacePro.

Building overview screen

A concept building exists separately from Space programs. You create concept buildings by selecting the "Buildings" menu on the homepage and then clicking "New concept building." A building consists of a Name, a Description, and a measurement unit (metric or imperial). The number of floors and their surface determines the total net surface area.

Creation of a building screen

When you create a concept building, you indicate the highest and lowest floor numbers. This can be the total number of floors in the actual building, but it can also be the number of floors you want to include. If, for example, you are only modeling floors 10, 11, and 12 in a multi-tenant building, you would enter the highest floor with a value of 12 and the lowest floor with a value of 10. In the case of a non-sequential set of floors, you can relabel the actual floor names.

After you define the number of floors, you can start entering the net surface area for each floor. You could decide to make one floor without a surface or a surface 0, but you could also leave it out of the floors.

It is also possible to define up to 10 zones for each floor. This is useful when a stack of floors consists of a North and South tower. If the floors are enormous and have atria that you would like to use in the Stacking & Blocking. If a building has zones defined, you can enter a total for the floor (ignoring the zones for that floor) or by Zone, in which case the floor surface is the total of the zones.
