The People & Attributes file

Before the start of the digital interview, it is required to collect the People & Attribute data. The first five columns have to be in a specific order. The file consists of at least ‘Email’, ‘FirstName’, ‘FTE’, ‘Parent organizational unit’, and ‘Child organizational unit’.

Required information

  • Email: Business email of the participant, to send out invitations
  • Name (first name): to send out the invitation with a personal salutation
  • FTE (Full Time Equivalency): for time and space calculations, is a number between '0' and '1'
  • Parent organizational unit: the superior level of organizational units within the organization. Change this title to reflect how this level is called within the organization itself (e.g. Division, Unit, etc)
  • Child organizational unit: the inferior level of organizational units within the organization. This is the level that respondents will use in the "interaction module" of the Digital Interview. Change this title to reflect how this level is called within the organization itself (e.g. Department, Team, etc)
  • Other Attributes: All other attributes are customisable and based on how the organization wants to see and filter the information within the WorkNavigator.
    • Examples of additional attributes

- Department

- Sub-department

- Team

- Section

- Division

- Job Type / Function

- Location

Interaction-module with value networks

The value networks within the organization drive the Interaction module within WorkNavigator.

Typically organizations use a linked list of Organizational Entities in their HR software. These linked lists can be many levels deep. The Company, Division, Business Unit, Department, Team, etc.

Because these multiple levels are extremely flexible to model the organization, and its required responsibility chain, it is almost impossible to use as-is for anything else. In WorkNavigator we flattened this structure to a usable minimum of two levels that are called Parent (the superior level) and the Team (inferior level). Sometimes this hierarchical structure raises eyebrows because it does not follow how the organization works. In the past we have also used the more organic "Branch" and "Leaf" metaphor, but this proved not always to be correct and applicable.

It is important that you rename the title of this column header, to suit your own organization, as it will be used in the Group and Filter screens as one of the attributes you can group and filter on within the WorkNavigator Dashboard.

The 'Parent organizational unit' column should contain organization units that divide into a multiple number of Child organizational units. It is also possible to use only a single level of organizational units. In that case, make sure to place an '_' (underscore) in the 'Parent organizational unit' column cells and fill out the 'Child organizational unit' with the organization unit names.
